Bourbon Apple Cider Float

This bourbon apple cider float is a sweet treat packed with a burst of fall flavors and most importantly, a shot of my favorite booze, bourbon.

You could definitely throw some rum in there instead of bourbon but bourbon is indeed my favorite booze and I think that part of the reason for that it works so well in this recipe is because you get some of these really deep vanilla and caramel flavors so it plays on that really well.

How to make an apple cider float

The first thing you’ll want to do is gather your ingredients:

  • Apple cider
  • Bourbon
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel sauce
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg

Next you’ll mix together the apple cider and the bourbon.

Then you’ll scoop the ice cream into the glass. Viola! An Apple Cider Float!

Don’t forget about the toppings! Of course, they are optional but they do help! The caramel sauce and then a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg. You can also add whipped cream and perhaps a cherry if you’d like!

If I’m being real honest, there absolutely should have been whipped cream and a cherry on top of this recipe!

Can I use Rum (or some other booze) instead?

Sure! Do whatever you want.

I personally feel that bourbon is the right choice for this drink but I’d imagine it would be great with run as well.

Bourbon flavor goes really well with the apple cider and the caramel so make adjustments at your own risk. 🙂

Can I make this Apple Cider Float without the Alcohol?

Absolutely! This would be fantastic without the bourbon and would become just an apple cider float.

It will be just as delicious so of course, if you’re making a dessert for kids or for yourself, remove the bourbon and you’ll have an apple cider float that’s perfect for everyone!

Seriously, just don’t forget to add the cherries and whipped cream. I’m still kicking myself!

It’s getting colder and colder in the mornings and late at night so it’s becoming difficult for me to ignore that its Fall.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Fall just as much as the next person but I dislike winter and Fall is just another reminder that it is coming.

I made these hoping it would help me get over it.

I hope that you enjoy this apple cider float on a brisk Autumn day where the air is cool, yet the sun still shines down on your face to warrant the ice cream.
